Jersey City police, fire and the Office of Emergency Management all responded to the scene at 532 Summit Ave., Kimberly Wallace-Scalfione, a spokeswoman for the mayor's office said.
The intersection of Summit and Pavonia is being closed to traffic while the investigation continues, Wallace-Scalfione said. The Occupational Safety and Health Administration has been notified, Wallace-Scalfione said.
